Consul-General Bennett was delighted to join the Premier of South Australia Peter Malinauskas, California’s Lt Governor Eleni Kounalakis, and California Air Resources Board Chair Liane Randolph in Sacramento for the signing of a new Letter of Cooperation between South Australia and California to accelerate climate action. This commitment builds on the strong foundations of our national-level Climate, Critical Minerals and Clean Energy Transformation Compact and Australia’s landmark MoU partnership of cooperation with California to expand work in clean transport, clean energy and tech and nature-based solutions as Australia makes significant progress to decarbonise its economy and drive the transition to net zero. Fantastic to also meet with Senator Becker and Senator John Laird and discuss strengthening Australia and California ties including on action to combat climate change. 🇦🇺🇺🇸 CSIRO California Energy Commission California Air Resources Board California Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) California Natural Resources Agency California Environmental Protection Agency You can read the South Australia and California Letter of Cooperation media release here: https://lnkd.in/eY45HMzM r You can read the Australia-California MoU on climate action joint statement here: https://lnkd.in/gaN9fCev

Last week, following the first official convening of the California Jobs First Council, GO-Biz Director Dee Dee Myers and California Labor & Workforce Development Agency Secretary Stewart Knox visited the Central Valley to meet with regional and industry leaders who are helping to drive bottom-up growth across key sectors of the region’s diverse economy. From the Sierra San Joaquin Jobs (S2J2) Spring Kick Off meeting, to a dinner hosted by UCANR's The VINE, to a Tulare County Economic Development Corporation breakfast, to a tour of Ventura Coastal, LLC’s Tipton plant, Director Myers and Secretary Knox enjoyed an incredibly productive trip. Thank you to all those partners who participated in and organized this series of events, and we look forward to being back in the Central Valley in the very near future! #CaliforniaJobsFirst

Interested in supporting reconstruction efforts in Ukraine? I'm excited to share that the GO-Biz International Affairs and Trade team is hosting a seminar on Private Sector Opportunities in the Ukrainian Reconstruction in collaboration with the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco and the U.S. Commercial Service on June 5 from 8:30-11:45am in San Francisco. This event is intended for California companies offering solutions critical to Ukraine’s resistance and resiliency, including energy resiliency, architecture/design/construction, cybersecurity, space tech, drones, and medtech. Notably, I'm proud that our team is also leading a California Pavilion to the ReBuild Ukraine tradeshow in Warsaw, Poland in November - we will share more information on this opportunity at the seminar: https://lnkd.in/gvNeS7Ge More information in the flyer or PM me for details.

Thank you to the Sierra San Joaquin Jobs Initiative for having us and the California Labor & Workforce Development Agency in Madera to celebrate the launch of their Spring Sprint as they work to develop their Regional Investment Plan. It was fantastic to hear from the various workgroups about innovative solutions that will bring about a brighter tomorrow for the region and we look forward to collaborating on all things California Jobs First in the coming weeks and months!
The S2J2 Initiative kicked off an eight-week Spring Sprint aiming to create a groundbreaking Regional Investment Plan. Over 300 community members gathered at Madera Fairgrounds to kickstart the plan, championing job creation, equitable opportunities, and environmental stewardship. A special thank you to Dee Dee Myers, with the California Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) and Secretary Stewart Knox of the California Labor & Workforce Development Agency for setting the stage for our shared vision. In the coming weeks, workgroups will craft strategies for climate solutions, agriculture, manufacturing, water, broadband, small business, health, and education. Let the work begin! #S2J2initiative
