We’re consulting on whether we should ban solid urea fertilisers to improve air quality. These types of fertilisers produce large levels of ammonia, which disrupts our precious ecosystems. When ammonia reacts with other pollutants in the air it also forms PM2.5, which is harmful to human health. We’ve outlined 3 options on how best to reduce ammonia emissions in an achievable and affordable way. Read them and have your say: https://lnkd.in/d8X3qJi

We have embarked on a ground-breaking effort to restore our natural world 🌱 In support of this, we have provided financial backing and input to @GFI_green in a ground-breaking report on nature-related financial risks in the UK, which starts to quantify the potential impact of nature degradation, domestically and globally, on the UK’s economy and financial sector. We are taking clear steps to mainstream nature into financial risk architecture by being a primary funder and supporter of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD). We are also funding the Green Finance Institute to help UK Plc road-test the TNFD framework and better map, measure and manage their nature related impacts and dependencies, risks, and opportunities. #GreenFinance
The GFI has been working closely with Environmental Change Institute (ECI), University of Oxford, University of Reading, UNEP-WCMC and National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR) over the last year to develop a first-of-its kind analysis quantifying the impact that nature degradation, both domestically and globally, could have on the UK’s economy and financial sector. #Nature related risks are as impactful as risks driven by greenhouse gas emissions – and they are slowing UK growth and productivity. This groundbreaking analysis shows that nature loss could lead to an estimated 12% loss of GDP in the coming years - a larger impact than the global financial crisis or #COVID19. Evidencing this material risk is a vital step towards transitioning our #EconomicSystem to one that values and invests in the natural environment. These findings present an opportunity for swift action from government, central banks, regulators and the financial sector to proactively manage nature-related risks and position the UK as a global leader in addressing them. Neutering is mandatory for all #XLBully dogs registered with the government exemption scheme following a ban on the breed type. If your dog isn’t yet neutered, speak to your vet to arrange this. Once your dog is neutered, you will need to send a completed confirmation of neutering form to Defra by the deadline. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/esf69Qbe

We’ve launched a fund to help groups of farmers investigate how they can better manage water in their area for use in time of drought. The fund will support around 20 studies and will also investigate water demand and availability in the most water-stressed agricultural areas over the next 25-year period. It will help to identify opportunities to build on the success of existing projects like Felixstowe Hydrocycle. Learn how to apply: https://lnkd.in/eMsBZJgm

🚫 There’s nothing disposable about disposable #vapes. ♻️ With 5 million thrown away every week in the UK, it’s essential that they’re recycled properly rather than put in the bin. 👀 Minister for Waste Robbie Moore MP visited Sweeep Kuusakoski’s waste processing centre to find out why. 💻 https://lnkd.in/dJeBsyx

3yI thought all fertiliser produces or contains ammonia, it's a natural reaction of the elements isn't it?
