My PhD research study remains open for recruitment. It consists of two parts and participants are invited for either or both. At this stage response from the age group 55-64 years has been strong and recruitment now focusses on those aged 65 years and older. Part a) If you access the Internet through any digital device please consider completing the 15-minute survey (link below). Part b) If you know of anyone aged 65 years or older who does not access the Internet (i.e. is not online) and would be interested in sharing their experience with me through a telephone interview please share my mobile number 086 847 2348 to make contact with me. Many thanks and please do share in your online and offline networks. Sandra https://wp.me/p8OE8C-g8 #digitalliteracy #digitalskills #lifelonglearning #intergenerational

For information on applying for a place on the 2024 Ideas Academy programme from Social Entrepreneurs Ireland check out the link below⬇️ I had an amazing experience last summer that helped move my idea forward. You’ll learn loads and have some fun too with peers like Ciara, Destiny and many more. Check it out - what have you got to lose? And you might even get your ‘face on the back of a bus’ 🤣 https://lnkd.in/g6fMs_g6
A face like the back of a bus!! 🚌 Sitting in traffic in Dublin and I look up to spot my own mug smiling back at me!! What a howl! 🤣 The photo is an ad to promote Social Entrepreneurs Ireland as they are now open for applications for their #IdeasAcademy 💡 I was very lucky to participate in the program last year to help me develop my concept #Boy4Better a social enterprise focused on the next generation of male allies. Still very much on my mind but parked for now while I continue to grow WeddingDates Anyway… for anyone who has an idea that could make a difference and make the world or their community a better place I would HIGHLY recommend you check out the Ideas Acaedmy. It’s a brilliant program run by a wonderful organisation. You’ll also have a cohort of other Social Entrepreneurs in your corner forever after it. I was continually impressed and inspired by the others on the course and I’m in good company on the bus with Sandra Flynn, PhD and Destiny Ayo Vaughan #socialenterprise #entrepreneurlife

A pilot series of 6 Digital Drop-In workshops between volunteer mentors from Transition Year and older adult participants from the Skibbereen community is now complete. The next step is to analyse the participant feedback from the perspective of intergenerational and non-familial learning. Many thanks to everyone involved, and especially the Ideas Academy team at Social Entrepreneurs Ireland for believing in and supporting the pilot. https://lnkd.in/giiS7tf9

A challenging week ended with the amazing news of a seed funding award for the Digital Drop-In pilot workshops currently underway in Skibbereen. I am hugely grateful to the generous benefactors at Social Entrepreneurs Ireland Ideas Academy for their belief in my idea, and support from the outset early this summer. The award will go a long way towards bringing my PhD research to life in local communities. #SocialImpact #ChangingIreland #DigitalSkills

Summer 2023 has flown by and this week marked our cohort’s graduation from the Ideas Academy of Social Entrepreneurs Ireland. It was a privilege for Digital Drop-In to be selected for this highly sought after programme, and I have learned loads from everyone involved. Since I blogged my way through my PhD I thought to myself ‘why stop there?’ This, my first post-PhD life blog post, reflects on my experience of participating in the Ideas Academy programme. #ChangingIreland #SocialImpact https://lnkd.in/egve9p-h
