The team’s commitment to the local community shines through every aspect of this project. The use of a regular news bulletins has ensured that the local community, and those affected by the works, are kept informed about progress. In addition, residents can raise any queries face to face at the reception area set up at the site, which enables our team to effectively interact with all visitors. The team are implementing environmental reporting systems and practices including the use of a SmartWaste System, demonstrating the team’s commitment to minimising waste. Carbon reduction is a key feature of our corporate NetZero40 Strategy and Project Environmental Plan, and effective reduction measures have been put in place and are monitored on site to support our journey to Net Zero. Through their consistent support and engagement with the local community, the team is helping to create a positive image of the construction industry. By actively addressing concerns, ensuring minimal disruption, and reinforcing the Social Value plan, they have demonstrated a commitment towards the residents within the community. The team’s approach to environmental protection reflects a comprehensive commitment to sustainable practices, conservation, and minimising environmental impact throughout the entirety of the project. Charity Football Match and Raffle   Thank you to our Rail Project Teams at Etches Park and Willenhall & Darlaston for their participation in the charity football tournament organised by Linsco Ltd in July. Although Linsco's team won the tournament, one of our teams made it to the semi-finals! The event brought together employees for a day filled with fun, and most importantly, provided a remarkable opportunity to give back to the community. In addition to the match, there was a raffle that was generously organised by Linsco Ltd after the tournament, with one of our team members winning a prize! The match and raffle were held to raise money for two fantastic charities, Hayward House (Nottingham Hospitals Charity) and MNDA (Motor Neurone Disease Association), both of which are doing incredible work to make a positive impact on people’s lives. Career Ready Programme at SEGRO plc Park Coventry and Head Office On Wednesday 26th July, Ella, Amelia, Faith, and Julia received a warm welcome from our central services teams at Head Office, as their 4-week Career Ready Programme at SEGRO plc Park Coventry came to an end. They spent the morning working alongside teams at Head Office where they put their skills in writing and communication to the test! Following the interactive morning, a Women in Construction Networking Lunch was held in the café at Head Office which brought together female leaders from various central services departments and sectors. The networking lunch provided a platform for all to engage and network, providing the students on placement with the opportunity to learn from industry experts. The feedback was extremely positive as they commented that they had the best day to finish their placement. Thank you to the organisers and attendees for making this a success! The students then finished their placement on Friday 28th July with a presentation to key site team members covering two research topic areas: 1. How to improve the perception of the construction industry within schools and colleges 2. Carbon reduction in the construction industry During their time on site, our team fully supported them through their 4 week journey, showcased how a live site works, and demonstrated the importance of collaboration and teamwork for successful project delivery. The students summarised their overall experience as “Inspiring, eye opening, engaging, and enjoyable”! This week our site team at SEGRO plc Park Coventry were delighted to welcome Ella, Amelia, Faith and Julia to commence their 4 week work placement, the final element of their year long participation in the Career Ready programme. Our Build and Civils Team are looking forward to giving the students a flavour of how a live construction site operates and demonstrating the vast amount of roles that come together to complete a project, and showcasing that construction is for everyone. During talks prior to coming to site, some of their aims for the placement are: ·       To improve their confidence ·       Increase resilience ·       Improve their ability to communicate at all levels ·       Present to a large group of people These are things that we could all work on! We are looking forward to hearing about how they get on. We have been working with Reactive Hire Limited to provide site welfare that supports our NetZero40 strategy. The EcoPro Generator Free Welfare Unit is completely solar powered with no generator, and incorporates rain harvesting, grey water recycling, and water-saving technology so lowers the fuel consumption, carbon emissions, and water consumption and waste production of the welfare that we use on site.   As there is no generator in this cabin, the only fuel used in the welfare unit is during colder months, in the low-consumption heater, which consumes only 0.25 litres of fuel per hour. The diesel heater can be run on HVO which has 90% less emissions than white diesel.   We have and continue to use these units for Layton and Leyland Stations, part of our Greater Manchester Platform Extensions scheme. Since the hire project started, the Generator Free cabin has performed perfectly, supplying all electrical functions from solar power alone – lighting, hot water, kettle, microwave, USB chargers, 230V 3-pin power sockets, hydraulic deployment, water pumps etc. The solar-charging capacity of the cabin has easily covered all outgoing energy requirements, with battery charge remaining high at all times, never dropping below 93% and recovering each day to 100%. Our Site Agent commented: “Thank you to Reactive Hire for recommending and supplying your full solar / no generator welfare units to us and championing them through Buckingham Group. It is refreshing to find and utilise a welfare unit that encompasses our green initiative to reduce our carbon footprint. This welfare range is one we will continue to use going forward on future hires. All functions and powered items work perfectly, with the bonus they are powered from the clean renewable energy of the sun, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels. Our North Calvert Project Team participated in the People and Plant Interface Day Our team at North Calvert were involved in the People and Plant Interface Day last week, which was hosted by our Plant Suppliers; L Lynch Plant Hire & Haulage, Flannery Plant Hire, and BUCKINGHAM PLANT HIRE LIMITED. We were pleased to provide all of our employees, supply chain and the client with the opportunity to become familiar with the different equipment we have available on site. Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd successfully completes Lee Valley’s new £30m Ice Centre, which has welcomed members of the public from local communities   Buckingham Group has successfully and collaboratively delivered the new Lee Valley Ice Centre, which opened its doors to the public on Saturday 17th June 2023, bringing a stunning, new venue to London.   The £30m design and build project was awarded in June 2021 by the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority (LVRPA). The project commenced with ecological advance work in July 2021, and the demolition of the existing, 37 year old ice skating rink, by our in-house Demolition Team.   The facilities within the new Ice Centre include two Olympic size ice rinks, either side of a two storey core which houses a stunning new gym, dance studios, café area and changing facilities, all set within the beautiful green space of the Lee Valley Regional Park.   The Ice Centre will form a new community hub to boost the local economy by attracting half a million visitors a year, double that of the old ice rink.   Please read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/ewnJRAD4   #Ice #Leevalleypark #Community #London #Sports #Leisure #Construction #Collaboration
