We were thrilled to have CBi's Florian Rhiza Nery facilitate the first ever Public-Private Partnerships in Disaster Management Workshop recently, as part of the The ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre) Executive Leadership in Emergency and Disaster Management Programme (ACE LEDMP) - and to share the proverbial stage with the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation, DHL Group, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) and the Office of Civil Defense. These are the kinds of opportunities and spaces that build the relationships and connections to really change how we do disaster management and enable better collaboration for more lives and livelihoods saved. Emergency telecommunications in disaster management is an important topic that Ronald Jackson from UNDP addresses, based on his experience in the Caribbean and beyond, on the UNconnected podcast by Doreen Bogdan-Martin from International Telecommunication Union. Some of what is covered includes: 💡 We need a whole-of-society approach that includes the private sector for better disaster preparedness, response, and recovery 💡 Capacity building, protocols and drills, scenarios, and good practices with local adaptation are some of the tools we can deploy to be better prepared for emergencies 💡Communities and vulnerable people shouldn't just be on our radar but part of preparedness efforts But that doesn't even cover the technology side of things, which is a recurring theme... You can listen to the whole podcast (just under 30min) or read the transcript! ➡ https://lnkd.in/dz5UkHVX #telecommunications #fosteringresilience #strongertogether

We love this! (Click through for the full carousel experience.) Given our mandate to work with the private sector before, during, and after emergencies, CBi naturally reflects - and operates in - what we at the UN call "the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus". It's a mouthful, but it's really all about ensuring a continuity of support delivered to people affected by crises, from disaster response to recovery, for greater community resilience. Even if behind the scenes the work is shared between different agencies. It's why CBi works so closely with both United Nations OCHA and UNDP. If you have any questions about this, let us know! #disastermanagement #fosteringresilience
