Yesterday, we welcomed at European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) industry representatives from Cellular Agriculture Europe, EuropaBio - the European Association for Bioindustries and Food Fermentation Europe, and discussed topics linked to the safety of cell culture-derived foods and food ingredients as #novelfood. As highlighted in the 2021 conference of the European Federation of Food Science and Technology, #foodsafety is the primary element, alongside #nutrition and #sustainability, to be considered for the evolution of the global #foodsystem. With my colleague Eirini Kouloura, we presented aspects of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) work on #novelfoods, which appear to have a key role in our evolving food chain.
