About the event

Now in its 18th year, the Mayor of London’s free, annual festival once again welcomes Londoners and visitors to the capital’s iconic Trafalgar Square to celebrate the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting.

Developed in partnership with the Eid Community Advisory Group and London based arts, culture and grass roots Muslim organisations, the theme for this year's festival supports the Mayor’s #LondonForEveryone campaign and focusses on family, education, and innovation, bringing communities, friends and families together to enjoy the celebrations.

The Main Stage will be hosted by Ali Official alongside Mariah Idrissi and features a mix of traditional and contemporary acts including MoYah, The Khan Brothers Qawwali Group, Silk Road Collective plus RnB legend, FaceSoul. Watch out for the Colours of Eid Parade grand finale as a sea of stunning Eid costumes led by Dhol drummers walks through the Square.

And for the first time this year we are bringing you the Inspiring Muslim Awards, where we recognise and celebrate unsung heroes from London’s community who have been nominated by you.

We’ve got a feast of global food stalls to tempt you with including Indian street food from Mr Bombay, silk road delights from Oshpaz Uzbek Street Food, Venezuelan fayre from Pabellon and Somali treats from Hooyo East. The North Terrace will be awash with stalls including Desi Doll Company, Yunus Emre Institute London, Islamic Art Prints, London Muslim Health Network and many more.

The Square will be buzzing with activities including WAW Creative Arts Kids Zone offering calligraphy, storytelling, drama and poetry workshops and performances.  There’s mehndi and facepainting plus interactive fencing sessions with Muslim Girls Fence.  Don’t miss Shade 7's 'Journey through the Islamic Months’ storytelling sessions and if you fancy learning about Muslim Stories of Trafalgar Square then join Halal Tourism Britain on one of their free 20-minute bite-sized tours on the hour from 12:30pm – 5:30pm. We also welcome the New Crescent Society who will be running some interactive workshops on how to site the UK Eid moon.

New to the Square this year, we are delighted to be joined by Everyday Muslim who are marking their 10th anniversary with a photographic exhibition, audio histories and a chance to take part in their family heritage workshops.  Plus, bring down your own photos so they digitally scan them into the archive. What a fantastic opportunity to share your family history with future generations! And we welcome Rumi’s Cave Open Mic who will be entertaining us with a mixture of poetry, comedy and acoustic performances throughout the day.

A full rundown of the main stage programme, activities, caterers and all traders can be found below.

And a big thank you goes out to our sponsors this year Islamic Relief UK, ZEE5Western Union and Eid Party

It’s a busy event, so expect queues. There’ll be a search on entering the Square so please don’t bring large bags.

We look forward to welcoming you to the festival.

Eid Mubarak.
