The new London Fire Brigade Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) – ‘Your London Fire Brigade’ - was published earlier this year.

It's the Brigade’s strategy and delivery plan for 2023-2029 to keep London safe.

London Fire Brigade have written the update below. It details what has changed because of the consultation. You’ll also find out more about how to stay in touch and get involved again by joining focus groups.

Our thanks to you

Over 2,000 Londoners responded to the consultation on the draft plan from 30 May until 25 July 2022– including over 800 of you here on Talk London.

Based on the feedback from our communities, staff, and partners, we have made the changes set out below:

Renaming our ‘pillars’

In the draft plan, we aligned our work to four key themes, or ‘pillars’ as we called them. Because of your feedback, we’ve amended the titles of two of them:

  • ‘Learning from You’ is now ‘Learning from others.’ This reflects that we are seeking to learn not just from the public (the ‘you’ in the CRMP), but also our partners, fellow subject matter experts, other emergency services and stakeholders.
  • ‘Representing You’ is now ‘Adding Value’. We think this better reflects what we are trying to achieve within this area.

None of the actions within either of these “pillars” have changed.

Attendance standards

In our consultation we proposed to delete one of our attendance standards to get a fire engine anywhere in London within 10 minutes 90 percent time of the time.  We felt our performance was adequately measured through our other attendance standards. While there was some support for this proposal, over 50 per cent did not agree. We have decided to keep this performance measure.

More information

We added more information about fire safety and regulation, emerging and future risks, national resilience, and assuring our services.

We have also expanded the section on ‘Our Culture’ to reflect the findings in the recent Culture Review and our immediate actions following the review. Read more about the Culture Review.

Additional performance measure

We have added a performance measure that will report on the percentage of firefighters who have received training to respond to terrorist incidents.

What’s next?

There are four key areas of change we want to focus on when delivering our transformation projects and actions:

  • The way we work with you
  • The services we provide
  • The equipment, facilities and skills we need
  • A safe and professional culture.

We already have ongoing projects from our previous Delivery Plan and have started new projects included in our current Delivery Plan.

Take a look at our website for more info.

Stay involved

There are many ways to stay involved with London Fire Brigade’s work.

Register to stay in touch

LFB community forum

The forum is at the heart of scrutinising our services. Established in September 2022 and co-produced with members of the community, it operates as a critical friend to the Brigade.

LFB community engagement newsletter

We have launched our brand-new community focused newsletter. Every two months it will detail our community engagement work across London. You will also find more opportunities to get involved with our work.

Community focus groups and community conversations

We hold regular focus groups to hear the views and concerns around the support and information we provide after an incident.

Our next one is scheduled on 29 March from 18:00-20:00. The following one will take place in May 2023. Register via the link above.

These sessions will give community members the opportunity to share their lived experience of using our services and help shape our organisational response.

Hearing from people affected or concerned ensures our services are shaped by the people who matter the most - you.
