WHAT HAPPENED IN FEBRUARY?

February started with a visit to the OSJ conference in London on 8 and 9 February. Offshore Supply Vessels are the 2nd largest group of battery powered vessels after ferries and it was good to see the focus on sustainability of all the players in the offshore industry. There was no discussion if they should use batteries on board their ships, but mainly how they can optimize the use of batteries on board even further, and what other technologies combined with batteries can help to bring the offshore fleet to zero emissions. The visit to the UK ended on Friday 10 February in Southampton, where we organized a Maritime Batteries 101 session. A group of 25 people joined us for this introduction course on maritime batteries. Thanks everyone for joining and thanks to Lloyd’s Register to arranging the meeting room for us.

The Onboard Battery Safety Sheet has been finalized by the Battery Safety working group, and the results will be shared during WATTS UP next week. The rest of February we have been all focused on arranging the best WATTS UP so far.

We also have 5(!) new members joining this month: Eidesvik, Skan El, Lehmann Marine, Spinning Energy and Power4Future.

Welcome all to the Maritime Battery Forum!
