Latest update - February 2024

NatureScot has notified a new Site of Special Scientific Interest at Bargeny Hill in East Dunbartonshire on 09 March 2023. This notification was confirmed with a small reduction in size on 15 February 2024. We may also publish the notices we post on the Tell Me Scotland website. (Select NatureScot from the 'Choose organisation' list on the left side). You can sign up to receive Tell Me Scotland email alerts whenever notices are published that will affect the area where you live or work.

We must publish a notice in a local newspaper (and by any other suitable means) whenever we:

  • notify a new Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)
  • de-notify all or part of an existing SSSI
