Dog kennels

NDH button

Newport City Dogs Home is run by Newport City Council and takes in stray dogs found by residents or the council’s dog wardens.

We are proud to have been awarded a 2023 RSPCA Cymru Gold PawPrint for our work with stray dogs and kenneling.

Concerns about dangerous dogs must be reported to the police.

Dogs entering the kennels are checked for illness or injury and are treated by a vet if necessary.

We also check to see if dogs are microchipped.

Owners have seven days to claim their dog and every effort is made to contact owners.

The charge for this service must be paid before the dog is collected (cash or cheque with bankers card accepted).

See the current kennel charges.

Dog exercise park

A two-acre dog exercise park is attached to the kennels which dog owners are able to book and pay for exclusive use:

Due to essential maintenance work the dog exercise park is currently closed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
