Lost/expired residence card (Valid residence permit in Norway)

In order to apply for a D-visa due to lost/expired residence card when you still have a valid permit in Norway, you must follow these guidelines:

1) Send an e-mail to embassy emb.ankara.immigration@mfa.no marked «LOST/EXPIRED RESIDENCE CARD» and attach the following:

  • SIGNED DETAILED EXPLANATION If the residence card is expired and you did not renew your card before it expired: Explain why you did not get a new card before the old one expired; see chapter 5 of RS 2012-011. In the explanation, you need to include when you left Norway and where you have been since you left Norway.
  • SIGNED DETAILED EXPLANATION if the residence card is stolen/lost on when and how it was stolen/lost. Included in the explanation you need to include when you left Norway and where you have been since you left Norway.

2) Attend an Application Centre run by the external service provider (VFS) to submit your application.  

The Embassy will after looking at your case inform you on how and when you may give in your application for a D-visa in order to travel back to Norway. You will need to pay VFS a Service fee when submitting the application. You need to bring all documents and your passport to VFS in order for them to accept the application, therefore please make sure you have all the following ready before you go to VFS:

  • POLICE REPORT if your residence card is lost or stolen. You must report to local police and explain when, where and how the card was lost/stolen/, see chapter 5 of RS 2012-011.
  • SIGNED DETAILED EXPLANATION If the residence card is expired and you did not renew your card before it expired: Explain why you did not get a new card before the old one expired; see chapter 5 of RS 2012-011. In the explanation, you need to include when you left Norway and where you have been since you left Norway.
  • SIGNED DETAILED EXPLANATION if the residence card is stolen/lost on when and how it was stolen/lost. In the explanation, you need to include when you left Norway and where you have been since you left Norway.
  • Copy of the personalia pages of your passport and ALL used pages of the passport.
  • 2 passport photos
  • Original passport 

Be aware that case processing time may take up to 3 months. In many cases the Embassy must consult UDI on whether to issue a D-visa or not.

 

Lost/expired residence card (Expired residence permit in Norway)

If your residence permit in Norway has expired, according to UDI guidelines, permit for renewal handed in outside Norway will as a main rule be rejected on formal grounds. Please read more here:

The Embassy can therefore not assist you any further in your case.

 

Lost travel document (when you have a valid residence permit in Norway)

In order to apply for a new travel document (LP) due to lost travel document when you still have a valid permit in Norway, you must follow these guidelines:

1) Send an e-mail to embassy emb.ankara.immigration@mfa.no marked «LOST TRAVEL DOCUMENT» and attach the following;

  • SIGNED DETAILED EXPLANATION if the travel document is stolen/lost on when and how it was stolen/lost. In the explanation you need to include when you left Norway and where you have been since you left Norway. Make sure to include your full name, date of birth and nationality.

2) Attend an Application Centre run by the external service provider (VFS) to submit your application.

You need to bring all documents and your passport to VFS in order for them to accept the application, therefore please make sure you have all the following ready before you go to VFS:

  • complete the travel document application form Application for a travel document (pdf, 750 kB) 
  • POLICE REPORT if your travel document is lost or stolen. You must report to local police and explain when, where and how the document was lost/stolen/, see chapter 5 of RS 2012-011.
  • SIGNED DETAILED EXPLANATION if the travel document is stolen/lost on when and how it was stolen/lost. In the explanation, you need to include when you left Norway and where you have been since you left Norway.

    Copy of the personal pages and all used pages of the travel document if you have or copy of other ID-document.

    2 passport photos

In all cases concerning travel documents, the Embassy must consult UDI on whether to issue an LP or not. Case processing time: up to 3 months.
