How can we give Mary and Helge the best evidence-based treatment for their hip fractures?

  1. Mary (75) lives alone in her house. Uses no walking aids. She fell outside walking her little dog and got a displaced femoral neck fracture (FCF). Only medicated for hypertension. Had a wrist fracture 10 years ago treated with a cast.

  2. Helge (85) lives in an apartment together with his wife (78). Homecare twice a day. He uses a walker in his home and on the rare occasions that he is outside. He fell out of bed and sustained a trochanteric fracture. Medicated for hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, previous MI, chronic atrial fibrillation - he is using DOAC. No previous fractures.
