Improving outcomes for children and families: Introducing the family justice data at the SAIL databank

By Nuffield Foundation

Children who come into contact with children’s services, or who are subject to family law proceedings (either because their parents separate or because they are judged to be at risk of significant harm) are among the most vulnerable in our society. Yet at a population level we know surprisingly little about them, their family circumstances and their long-term outcomes, in part because the data collected routinely about these children and their families are underused for analysis. We cannot begin to identify better ways to support these children and families without this knowledge.

The Nuffield Family Justice Observatory has invested in a family justice data partnership – a collaboration between Lancaster University and the SAIL databank at Swansea University – to try to address this gap.

Join this event to find out more about the administrative data held at the SAIL databank, the research questions that urgently need to be answered to support policy and practice, and how you or your institution can apply to access this data for analysis. We will be using Zoom for this event.
