The first of a series of "Building Better Business" events kicked off in Letterkenny this morning with Minister for Enterprise Simon Coveney telling businesspeople that they should read the Government's priorities into the fact that Donegal was the starting point.
Nine such events are to be held around the country and the last one will be in Dublin.
Mr Coveney said that every part of the country will benefit from Government supports for business and he stressed the importance of going digital which he said will grow business stronger.
The focus of the events is the various Regional Development Plans and the two key areas of decarbonisation and digital transformation.
Each event features stands from various bodies including government agencies which can support businesses such as Skillnet Ireland, the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, the IDA, Enterprise Ireland and Microfinance Ireland.
Guest speakers advised attendees on the challenges and opportunities of decarbonisation and digital transformation.
Opening the event at Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Letterkenny, Mr Coveney said the three key things to take away from the day was the fact that Government is committed to balanced regional development, the importance of positively engaging with digitisation and decarbonisation, and a heightened awareness of the supports available for businesses to grow and prosper.
The Minister encouraged businesspeople to engage with their Local Enterprise Office and he said digital is for everyone and every business.
The Minister said "the digital economy in Ireland is running at two different speeds" and there was a need to accelerate digital adoption across the business and the public sector.
Mr Coveney said Government should be leading on this.
