Tech for Good Summit 2023

Our third annual Tech for Good Summit took place on April 20th, 2023, bringing together a wide range of leaders and organisations from the tech for good ecosystem in the UK.

Recordings of all of the sessions are now available on demand - watch them here.

Formed at the height of the COVID pandemic in Spring 2020, we have recruited over 2,500 passionate volunteers who have already worked with more than 300 organisations to the benefit of the people and communities of Scotland.

Our mission is to mobilise the UK’s tech community, applying its talents, creativity and commitment to achieve rapid delivery of technology solutions to some of the most important problems we face as a nation.

What we have learned ….

Our experience in the early months of the pandemic showed us that resource constraints meant organisations in the third sector were, in general, making limited use of digital technologies to support their work. The challenges that they were experiencing as a result of the crisis encouraged many organisations to look more actively at the opportunity to use technology and many approached the Scottish Tech Army for help in doing so. That increased interest in and willingness to use digital solutions is proving to be a long-term shift - organisations that we have helped are coming back with new ideas and more are coming forward with requests for help

The long term challenge …

The constraints that were there are not easing - indeed the squeeze on resources in the third sector is being exacerbated by the macro-economic situation. These organisations still do not have the funds and the support to make the most of what technology has to offer. That’s why our model in which volunteers with the right expertise who work on projects to deliver digital solutions can make such a difference - practical solutions to real world problems without the unaffordable costs.

Critically, we need the people with the skills and motivation to deliver these projects so please step forward now and join our community. You can learn more about the experience from hearing Byron and Pamela’s stories too.
