Connected and Autonomous Plant: Phase 1

Connected and Autonomous Plant (CAP, as described in the attached flyer) has the potential to bring significant benefits to the construction sector. Highways England, working in collaboration with i3P (a cross-sector independent body for the promotion of innovation in infrastructure), iskeen to encourage the widespread development and adoption of this rich new area of  technology, and to identify what aspects of CAP will bring about the greatest and most immediate benefits. 

Highways England has therefore commissioned a project, using the Innovation Designated Fund, to develop an understanding of the existing landscape of CAP development, and hence create a roadmap for the future of CAP in the UK. The project will include a live demonstration of selected CAP technologies.

As part of the exploratory phase of this work, we are seeking responses to this short survey from people with expertise or knowledge in relevant fields. The results will guide the direction of the project, and help to establish the level of awareness of this topic. At the completion of the exploratory phase we will establish a stakeholder group that will guide the development of the roadmap for CAP. Therefore, we would also like to understand the level and extent of interest in the industry in becoming part of this stakeholder group.
