Asmara is the capital city of Eritrea. Eritrea is a dictatorship with some of the worst human rights conditions in the world, and those fleeing Eritrea are most often escaping forced conscription, including of children. This year, we want to shine a light on the human rights violations taking place in Eritrea, and the long and dangerous journeys that Eritreans have to take in order to reach safety. 

 

The journey between Asmara and Athens is 2,928km. Between the 13th and 19th February, those who take on the challenge are going to collectively cover that distance!

 

We’ll ask you to contribute as much distance as you can during that week – whether that just means including your walk into uni, or if you’d like to do something a little more intensive! Any way of covering distance counts: walking, running, swimming, cycling, rowing, and so on. By travelling this distance, we invite you to stand in solidarity with refugees and displaced persons worldwide, and to raise money to support vital psychological and legal aid.
