Programme Leader for MA Media Production (Film and Television)

I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Programme Leader for MA Media Production (Film and Television) in the Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries.

I have supervised national and international award-winning student filmmakers and I manage the faculty's academic partnership with the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Albert and the education partnership with Avid Technology. I have industry links and networks external to the University and attempt to embed realistic workplace expectations across the curriculum.

I have recent experience working at senior levels on some of the largest drama productions shot in the UK. I have worked with industry professionals on multiple Virtual Production volumes and understand the requirements for scheduling and directing in the studio space.

I am committed to promoting sustainability in the film and television industry and enthusiastic to find ways we can reduce waste, energy consumption, and carbon emissions during filming.

Research

My research interests focus on both film and television with particular focus on the following:

  • Drama production working in pre-production, production, and post-production
  • Virtual Production and Volume Technology
  • Directing with multiple camera units
  • Reducing the environmental impact of a production with BAFTA albert
  • Postproduction workflows
  • Screen Performance on continuing drama and film
  • Avid Certified Instructor Training and exam for Media Composer

As a film and television professional I have continued to work within production as I believe this is essential for academics teaching practical modules. It helps keep my skillset up to date with the current trends in industry and transfer them to the classroom. I have recent experience working on some of the largest drama productions shot in the UK and have worked with industry professionals on multiple Virtual Production volumes and understand the requirements for scheduling and directing in this studio space.

I am an AVID ACI (Avid Certified Instructor). My role requires me to keep up to date with certification and professional practice not just in the UK but around the world to allow me to deliver industry-standard authorised training.
