Recent research grants awarded include:

  • Dr Joanne Watson. Building a Brighter Future: the design and evaluation of evidence-based, co-produced integrated care pathways for (a) frailty/older people and (b) perioperative care/orthopaedics that are future-ready while addressing the pressures and problems of the present.  Date of grant: Feb 22, £164,074.

 

  • Deborah Kelly. Funding to support a second tranche of nursing, allied health professionals and midwives to undertake pre- doctorate and doctorate qualifications (3 pre-doctorate starting from May 2022 and 3 post doctorate starting from May 2022). Date of grant: Nov 21, £300,958

  • Dr Chris Redford.  A study of the feasibility of urinary C-peptide measurement as a stratification tool to validate the diabetes diagnosis in a district general hospital diabetes clinic population

     

  • Dr Susie Pearce.  A study to explore the implementation of the Enhanced Health in Care Homes framework in eight care homes in Torbay and South Devon. Date of grant: Oct 21, £71, 797

     

  • Dr Felicity Thomas. Understanding the high numbers of children in statutory care in Torbay: an engaged approach to supporting families and communities. Date of grant: July 21, £208,619

     

  • Dr J Bowtell. Provision of a daily high protein and high energy meal: effects on the physical and psychological wellbeing of community-dwelling malnourished elderly adults. Date of grant.  April 21,  £100,914
