Introduction to Lean Skills   PT4901 8 6 TBC Flyer Link

Lean systems improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity. The benefits, therefore, are recognised and many - increased product quality, improved efficiency frees up employees and resources for innovation and quality control that would have previously been wasted. This module will be offered on a standalone basis to give potential students an introduction to the Specialist Diploma in Lean Systems.

The Introduction to Lean Skills module provides students (professionals, returners, graduates) an opportunity to begin, and thereafter upskill, in a growing field. It combines an introduction to lean concepts with a guided application of the tools and techniques of lean using the standard A3 methodology.

The module will offer individuals a mechanism to explore lean concepts in a practical setting but within the framework of an academic course, that facilitates progression. The programme will consist of a series of exercises that participants will have to undertake in their own organisation or one of their choosing.

The module will be delivered in a blended learning format, with an initial online workshop followed by online support and concept development leading into the application of the material in a real case context by the participant in using the A3 methodology to scope, monitor, control and evaluate a lean project implementation.
