This thematic area looks at global transformations related to technological innovation, with particular attention to rapid digitization in contemporary society. Topics covered include artificial intelligence, big data, Internet governance, robotics, smart cities – as well as associated challenges for citizenship and democracy. Affiliated researchers have expertise in fields of computer science, international relations, law, philosophy, political science, and security studies.
