G20 Women's Empowerment Kick-Off Meeting
Marking the start of the G20 Empower and Women20, both groups together with the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection of Republic of Indonesia will conduct the G20 Women’s Empowerment Kick-off Meeting. Launched in one of Indonesia’s important days, Mother’s Day in 22 Dec, the event aims to solidify gender equality and women’s empowerment as an integral part of the G20 Indonesia Presidency and to introduce the Co-Chairs of G20 Empower Initiative and Women20 to Indonesia and the world. As a note, Indonesian Mother’s Day marks the first women’s movement in the country. In 1928, a group of pioneering women held a congress of Indonesian women to improve women’s role in society and support the independence movement.

1st Plenary Event: Freedom from Discrimination: Historical Journey from Japan to Indonesia
The first plenary bring the theme of ""Freedom from Discrimination: The Journey of History from Japan to Indonesia"". This event was held in Likupang, North Sulawesi, with objectives as follows: Address persisting challenge of discrimination in G20 countries and how to solve it; Documenting historical process and progress from the past W20 hosts; Identify contexts and situation in the face of recovery; and Identify recommendations, strategy and tactics.

2nd Plenary Event: Women MSMEs as Key to Inclusive Growth
The second plenary event focus on the topic of women in MSMEs as the key for inclusive growth. The objectives of this event are to identify ways to support WMSMEs as part of recovery strategy and inclusive economic growth current and future, as well as engage and build capacity of women-owned MSMEs in G20 Countries.

3rd Plenary Event: Promoting Health Response to Recover Together Equally
The second Plenary Event of W20 focused on the topic of “Promoting Health Response to Recover Together Equally. It was held in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Indonesia in a hybrid manner on March 23, 2022. The objectives of this event are to identify challenges for women to access health service during the pandemic, focusing on maternal and sexual and reproductive health; identify gender related gap in COVID-19 health response; and lastly to discuss actionable recommendations for leaders’ commitment.

4th Plenary Event: Inclusive Economic Growth to Build Resilience: Focus on Rural Women and Women with Disabilities
Women in rural areas may face particular challenges under the pandemic as well. For example, they might have less access to social assistance due to restricted mobility, disproportionate domestic care burden, social bias, illiteracy, and not receiving enough support such as cash transfers. This inaccessibility could also hinder them from reporting and seeking external help in domestic violence, which reportedly has increased under the pandemic (FAO, 2020). In this priority issue, W20 would also like to explore strong advocacy, among delegates, supported by knowledge partner focusing on: · Remove unequal access for rural women and women with disabilities to participate in the economy and build resilience · Increase digital and financial literacy for rural women and women with disabilities · Particularly for rural women, to benefit from climate change and energy transition

W20 Summit : En Route to Gender Equality for Gender Welfare
The W20 Summit included a series of activities, including policy dialogue and conferences, focusing on various topics such as addressing discrimination for gender equitable policy making, women’s economic empowerment, addressing intersectionality for inclusive economic growth for rural women and women with disabilities, gender lens investing, and business mentoring and networking. Held at the magnificent Lake Toba, North Sumatera, the W20 Summit serves as the final event of W20 Engagement Group. During the event, the group presented the W20 Communique as the outcome to the G20 Leaders.

G20 Ministerial Conference on Women's Empowerment
The G20 Ministerial Conference on Women Empowerment (G20 MCWE) 2022 in Indonesia will be a joint event involving elements of the G20 members’ governments and non-Government organisations. It is part of the Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection of the Republic of Indonesia’s commitment to continue the G20 MCWE during Indonesia’s G20 Presidency in 2022. The G20 MCWE 2022 aims to reaffirm the G20 leaders’ commitments thus far, as well as to discuss promising practices and critical issues that will close the gender gap and make women’s empowerment a reality. In accordance with women’s issues discussed throughout Indonesia’s G20 Presidency, three main topics will be discussed at the Conference: 1. Care Economy Post Covid-19: The Missing Opportunity in the Labour Market. 2. Closing Digital Gender Gap: Women’s Participation in the Digital Economy and Future Work. 3. Women’s Entrepreneurship: Accelerating Equality, Accelerating Recovery.
