Yo! Active LogoYo! Active is part of Yo! Wolves, the City of Wolverhampton’s young opportunities offer. Yo! Active provides eligible children and young people with free physical activity opportunities all year round and is part of our mission to inspire and support Wulfrunians to move more every day.

Yo! Active is being delivered in partnership with Wolves Foundation. As the official charity of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club, they aim to encourage healthier and more active people, lifelong learning and skills, and develop safer, stronger communities.

Am I eligible?

Yo! Active will offer free sessions for children and young people who:

  • Live within the City of Wolverhampton Council area.
  • Are aged between 0-18, or under 25 if the young person is a care leaver or has Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

What is included in Yo! Active?

There will be over 50 hours of free physical activity sessions across Wolverhampton each week. These will be taking place at a range of locations including WV Active Aldersley, WV Active Bilston Bert-Williams, WV Active Central and Bob Jones Community Hub.

Activities include:

  • Yo! Active Physical Activity sessions
  • Swimming: Public Swim, Family Fun Swim, SEND Swim, Tots Swim
  • Gym: Junior Gym sessions
  • Court Bookings: badminton, table tennis, squash, astro-turf, tennis courts.

Care leavers aged 18 and over will be able to claim a free WV Active membership until they turn 25.

Young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) aged 18 to 24 will be able to claim a free WV Active membership, allowing full member access to sites, and have free access to age specific SEND sessions.

How do I book?

  1. Sign up for your FREE Yo! Active membership at WV Active, this can be created either online or by visiting a WV Active Centre.
  2. Select the Yo! Active membership that is right for you:
  3. ‘Yo! Active’ membership for anyone aged 0-18 and living in the city of Wolverhampton.
    or
    ‘Yo! Active Care & SEND 18+’ membership for anyone 18-24 who has a special educational need and a disability or is a care leaver and is living in the city of Wolverhampton.
    You will have two weeks to bring in documentation showing your eligibility.
    Care leavers eligibility can be demonstrated by a letter from your Young Person Advisor.
    People with a special educational need and disability can showcase eligibility through proof of receipt of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or Disability Living Allowance (DLA).
  4. Once you have signed up you can now book on to a range of FREE sessions across our WV Active sites.
    This can be done through your WV Active account; select the site you wish to access, view all sessions under the Yo! Active tab and book on the sessions you wish to attend.

Anyone who signs up to a Yo! Active membership who is not eligible will have their membership removed without notice.

All Yo! Active memberships for under 16s must be created by a parent or guardian, in the child’s / young person’s name.

All children attending sessions must comply with the City of Wolverhampton Council and Wolves Foundation policies.

Yo! Active will not tolerate inappropriate behaviour within our sessions and reserve the right to refuse entry to sessions if the programme rules are not followed.

A minimum of 24 hours advance notice should be given if you are unable to attend a session. If you fail to attend three booked sessions in a row, you will be unable to book future activities for a two-week period.

It is a requirement and responsibility of all customers aged 14+ to sign a Health Commitment form prior to being given access to WV Active Facilities. If aged 14+, it is also your responsibility to ensure that you book and attend a gym induction prior to accessing any of our gym facilities on site. The parent/guardian must sign the Health Commitment form at sign up and at the time of booking/attending an induction.

In order to control unauthorised access to WV Active facilities, all children and young people using the Youth Gym will be required to have their photograph taken and stored on their personal membership account. A consent form must be signed by the parent/guardian of the child when booking/attending an induction.

Young people aged 16-18:
Young people aged 16-18 will be able to access the youth gym (during designated hours) and the wider Yo! Active offer. If they wish to utilise the main gym facilities, and group exercise programme they will be required to take out a paid WV Active or Bob Jones Community Hub membership. Young people in full-time education are eligible for the concessionary rate. Please see WV Active and Bob Jones Community Hub membership information for further details on concessionary charges.

Swimming:
In line with the WV Active Safe Swimming Policy, all children under the age of eight must be accompanied by a responsible person aged 16+, who must remain within reach at all times, regardless of their swimming ability. For each child under the age of eight accessing swimming, one free adult place will be provided at WV Active sites for children who have signed up to Yo! Active.

Wolverhampton Swimming and Fitness centre also offers a free-swimming offer.

As part of the Yo! Active programme we will collect the following information:

  • Name and date of birth.
  • Contact information including e-mail address.
  • Demographic information such as postcode.
  • Medical information.
  • Preferences and interests.
  • Other information relevant to customer surveys, evaluation and/or offers.

What we do with the information we gather:

We require this information to be able to deliver a safe effective programme and evaluate the success of the project. The City of Wolverhampton Council work with a number of providers to deliver Yo! Active, including Gladstone, Wolves Foundation and other community providers.
