Church still taking donations but says temporary housing is needed the most

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Many people in Burgaw are still struggling. One church is still giving out donations they receive, but they say more needs to be done.

Sand Hill AME Church is taking donations of clothes, toilet paper, water, diapers, and other necessities.

They say while people are still coming to get supplies, many have nowhere to take them.

Pastor Elberta Pugh-Hudson says although the donations are helpful, everyone’s true concern is where they are going to live and she says they cannot just rely on FEMA.

“Thank God for FEMA,” Elberta Pugh-Hudson said. “But, there are still other people that’s willing to help and aid and assist in any way they can. So if I was to tell them that we need anything right now, it would be housing.”

If you have any supplies you’d like to donate, take them to Sand Hill AME Church on White Stocking Road in Burgaw.
